2021 Home Studio Music Producer starter kit

Picking the right gear for your home studio can be nightmare when your first starting out with production, mixing or recording. With tons of brands all advertising gear, that essentially does the same thing, it can be hard to find the right purchases,

I'm hoping to help you save money in the long run by recommending the most affordable purchases that will last a long time and be repurposed throughout your recording/production journey!

(Here's a pic of me MacGyvering a vocal recording freshman year of college when I didn't even own a mic stand HA!)

My current studio is decked out now! ......🤟🏼_(ツ)_🤟🏼

Here's the gear that I recommend anyone

who is just getting into recording

Computer:

Any Mac with 8gb of RAM (customization options are constantly changing, but RAM is always important)

Interface: Scarlet 2i2 $170 (most affordable & quality interface)

Speakers:

HS5 X 2 $199.99ea (you need to buy two because they don't come as a pair)

Cables:

TRS - (connects your speakers/monitors to your interface)

XLR $8 - (connects your microphone to your interface)

Microphone:

sm7b $400 (a great microphone that everyone uses)

Headphones:

Sennheiser HD280PRO Headphone $100 (essential when recording vocals)

Adapters:

Headphone Adapter $10 (to connect headphones to the interface)

Mic Stand:

if you are only planning on recording yourself and prefer to be sitting down while doing so then I recommend you get a RODE PSA 1 instead of the boom stand!

At the end of the day, making & recording good music is the important thing not the gear! So I hope that this was helpful in soothing any overthinking/stress over the subject!
