GPT (Generative Pre-training Transformer) is a type of language model developed by OpenAI that has the ability to generate human-like text by predicting the next word in a sequence based on the context of the words that come before it. In the music industry, chat GPT could potentially be used in a number of ways to change the way music is created, promoted, and consumed.

One possible application of chat GPT in the music industry is in the songwriting process. Chat GPT could be used to generate lyrics for songs, either by providing prompts to the model or by allowing it to generate lyrics spontaneously. This could potentially streamline the songwriting process for artists, allowing them to quickly generate ideas for lyrics and melodies.
Another way chat GPT could impact the music industry is through the use of chatbots for music promotion. Chatbots powered by chat GPT could be used to engage with fans and promote new music releases on social media platforms. These chatbots could respond to questions, provide information about upcoming concerts, and even recommend new music to listeners based on their listening history.
Finally, chat GPT could potentially be used to generate personalized music recommendations for listeners. By analyzing a user's listening history and using chat GPT to generate recommendations based on this data, music streaming platforms could provide more tailored recommendations to listeners, potentially leading to increased engagement and satisfaction.
Overall, chat GPT has the potential to significantly change the way music is created and consumed, offering new opportunities for artists, music industry professionals, and listeners alike. While it is still early days for this technology, it is likely that we will see more and more applications of chat GPT in the music industry in the coming years.

I tried finishing a chorus to a song I was working on with chatGPT and the responses it gave were amazing. It is really close to being able to write genuinely good poetry. Depending on the prompt or information you feed it it can give incredibly tailored lyric advice. I even asked it to cross reference another song I'd written and it was no problem.
In 2023, I anticipate using chat GPT as a production tool for assistance with harmony and workflow, as well as for code-related advice.
